ABOUT NICOM, Inc.

NICOM, Inc. is an acronym for The National Information Company, and our business, from our beginnings, has been about information. Over 15 years ago when we began in Silver Spring, Maryland, the Internet was still in its infancy and few people had access or even knew much about it. E-mail, in fact, was still a novelty. There were also few online databases available and "google" and "blogs" were not household words. In those early years, most of our research was manual, and computer searching was fairly limited to the use of subscription databases or using CD ROM. Of course, the Internet has changed dramatically the way all of us do research; however, there is still a vast amount of information that is not online and requires extensive hands-on digging and it is that niche that NICOM, Inc. fills. And unlike so many start-up companies that began during the information service boom of the 1990s, we are still here, well into our second decade of providing honest, efficient research and information retrieval services at a reasonable price for people all over the world.

In 2000 we relocated our headquarters to Old Town Alexandria and incorporated NICOM, Inc. under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Our strategic location in the DC Metro area is an ideal location for speedy access to millions of archived holdings in DC and throughout the East Coast. As the decade continued, we expanded our on site locations to St. Louis for enhanced access to the National Personnel Records Center and increased coverage of the many midwest archival holdings and Los Angeles, CA to cover the many archival holdings on the west coast, including the Presidential Libraries. Consequently, we can retrieve information coast to coast.

We believe our people make the difference and we strive to provide outstanding service to our clients, whether they are an individual wanting some family research done or a huge corporate client that needs business intelligence. Our researchers are highly experienced and most have advanced degrees that cover a wide range of fields..
